Psalm 107 has been one of my favorite passages of Scripture for over a decade. I come back to it again and again. (Or, in some ways, it comes back to me again and again.) A friend turned my attention to it 15 years ago. She felt like it would be an important reminder for me. All these years later, her words have proven true.
This psalm, or song, speaks of four groups of people in distress whom God delivers in response to their cries for help. His motivation to rescue them is His “steadfast love.” In Hebrew, the word is “chesed”—His fiercely loyal, covenant-keeping, “I’m-not-going-anywhere” love.
